A snapshot from Kate Lloyd
Hasn't the year simply flown by!

December? - you're kidding!

All we all saying it?

I simply can't believe it is almost Christmas already.

This year has been packed with action, so much so that I didn't even get around to making my personal Christmas card as usual.

So because I failed to do that I'm emailing you a greeting in a lazy way to compensate.

Some people will have had a card of sorts, but these are recycled from previous years.

On the upside, because I saved the cost of design and print I was able to make a donation to charities of an equivalent amount.

Because my home is so important to me I chose two homeless charities.

One was Crisis, whose work I greatly admire, the other was Mane Chance Sanctuary, a charity set up by the actress Jenny Seagrove to rescue homeless and abused horses.

If this needs a little explanation, it's because I launched a new branch of photography this year, I now add equine photography to my list, both images of horses with people and without.

Earlier in the year I went to the Camargue, a long held wish since childhood. Somehow the moment was right and I was fortunate to get some pictures which really pleased me. So much so that I have made them available on my equine website www.katelloydequinephotography.co.uk as Fine Art Limited Edition prints.

I was also fortunate to have two selected for an exhibition next year compiled by the British Institute of Professional Photographers, to highlight the work of the profession. The exhibition is at Buckingham Museum and Art Gallery from mid January 2016.

I've also changed the way I am doing newborn photography.

For several years I have done natural light photography, but now I am keen to explore more studio lit images.

I have therefore spent a busy couple of months working on a new portfolio of images, with the help of some lovely families and their newborn babies.

The stories associated with baby life are of course many and varied, but sometimes it moves you almost to tears. This week I was really privileged to photograph a most special baby whose Mum had lost two babies and required genetic screening and IVF to achieve the small miracle I was then allowed to immortalise in pictures.

I love babies and it was a special joy to capture this one.

Another highlight of the year was to be asked by several parents whose firstborn I had photographed some years ago to come back for a second baby. I have had tremendous 'help' form a number of 2-3 year olds, and that adds a new dimension to the term photographic assistant!

So for now I wish you all joy and happiness at Christmas and for 2016, and have attached a trio of images I Hope you'll enjoy.

If you are still stuck for a Christmas present for someone don't forget I do sell gift vouchers for whatever amount you choose.
